Tech Center Research Park 2025: A Year in Review
At Tech Center Research Park, innovation is the name of the game. But even in a place where new ideas and big discoveries are the norm, 2025 was a banner year for the research park. From new facilities to exciting new concert series to the unveiling of a visionary project, 2025 was bursting with excitement and growth.
At a research park, our focus is usually on the future. But every once in a while, it’s good to pause and celebrate the path you’ve traveled to reach your goals. In case you missed some of the happenings this year, we put together a roundup of some of our most exciting 2025 highlights.
Building 800 Opened

The second of 10 planned buildings opened in 2025 at 800 Tech Center Parkway. The building adds another 65,050 square feet of office and research space to the park with flexible rental options available. From internet at research speeds, to globally recognized neighbors (like NASA) to luxury leisure options, Building 800 opens up a world of possibilities for founders, innovators, and fire starters.
Our campus makes the live, play, innovate lifestyle a reality, and it’s always growing. The state-of-the-art building offers access to the amenities and programming designed to nurture collaboration and innovation. Space in Building 800 is now available to lease.
First Full Year of Events and Gatherings on the Drillfield

Tech Center Research Park was proud to debut the Drillfield in late 2024. Since then, the event and community green space has enjoyed its first full year of programming and events.
From the summer concert series, to casual gatherings, to art and outdoor fun—the Drillfield lived up to the mission of bringing the larger community together in a visionary and inspiring environment.
Inaugural Summer Concert Series Brought Community Together

This summer, Tech Center rolled out the first of its Summer Concert series hosted on the Drillfield. Stretching from May 22 to October 2, the series consisted of 8 concerts that showcased an eclectic mix of genres for a unique blend of passion, creativity, and community. Each concert was free and open to the public for the ultimate family-friendly summer fun.
The research park’s state-of-the-art Drillfield was the perfect venue. It combined lush green space with high-tech amenities purpose-built for bringing people together. Each band performed their hearts out on the stage outfitted by a shell designed to effortlessly support lighting and sound rigs. And concert-goers enjoyed the music alongside delicious offerings by local food trucks (who enjoyed built-in water and electricity right on the grounds).
Tech Center Unveils Secure Energy Future Center

One of the biggest announcements of the year was the unveiling of Tech Center’s Secure Energy Future Center (SEFC). The initiative pulls together Tech Center’s strategic advantages to create an innovation hub for next-generation energy solutions.
The SEFC is a market-driven platform that combines the power of world-class research with unmatched defense and maritime infrastructure, proximity to the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility and NASA, with high-impact commercialization programming. With its unprecedented advantages, SEFC is positioned to be a major accelerator for energy innovation that will help build a secure energy future through commercial energy solutions.
